Perhaps you misunderstood what I was trying to say. It is not that those things compare to Obama's insurance mandate. Instead, they are all related.

For example, consider the situation that most children are in. They are protected under the Constitution like every other citizen. Yet they cannot go wherever they want, they cannot decide what religious services they will attend, they have no choice of what doctor will treat them etc. All the decisions are made and enforced by their parents. You can take your son's piggy bank and use the money to buy him new clothes, even though he may not like them. This is because you support him, feed him, clothe him and provide whatever he needs. How many parents have said, "As long as you live under my roof, you will abide by my rules!" There is a contract in force, which outweighs most of the child's rights. When he moves out of the house and is self-supporting, he can do anything he wants.

The same thing is true in your relationship with the government. As soon as you obtained a social security number, the government agreed to take care of you from cradle to grave. They educate you, make foodstamps available, have disability insurance for you, if you are poor, they will give you public housing, unemployment, retirement security, medicare, medicaide and anything else that they think is important. As long as you live under their roof, you will abide by their rules. If they want to take your piggy bank and buy private insurance for you, they can do it. You are under contract and they write the terms just like you do for your children.

As for your second question, I do not know about the case precedent, but there is a penalty if you do not buy car insurance and want to drive. You also have to go to a prive business to have your car inspected in most states.

Since there is no money, the only way you can move out of the house is to live completely by bartering. No lawyer or judge will explain this jurisdictional issue to you, because they do not want you to figure out how to leave home.

    Two Questions.
1. This mandate requires purchases from private companies (the insurance industry), How do you think that compares if at all, to social security or medicare, etc.
2. I heard that there was a case precedent that ruled back in the 90's that ruled against penalties for non-purchase. Do not know case name. If you know it, what are thoughts?
